CO Storm '03
(Worst snow storm in last 70 years!)
Over 80 inches in Summit County!
All over Denver, trees had fallen and roofs were collapsing, because of the heavy, wet snow.
...So what do we do?
We went hiking at Berthoud Pass. Avalanche warnings everywhere.
Brums is standing on the road.
Look how high the snow is!
Someone had a crazy idea of hiking to the top and making fresh tracks in feet of powder.
We got warned from Guides about blasting areas.
Who needs all that gear? Not us!
Brummer was supposed to take a picture of the waste deep snow I was standing in...Nice work!
The conditions were a little treacherous.
But definitely worth it.

Mission Complete...no casualties!
Let the sun shine on.
Next day...Arapahoe Basin.
Avalanche blasting was also going on here.
60 degrees at base of hill, fresh powder at the top.
Oh yeah! No need for those goggles.
